My introduction to tattoos came from Motley Crue. The first tattoo I can remember was on Tommy Lee and it was of Mighty Mouse on his arm. As a child these were my heroes, and that instantly made it cool.

By the time I was in the high school the only classes I cared about were art classes. In any others classes, I was drawing skulls on the sides of my papers. At the sames times I was getting more into the local music scenes, and now tattoos were all around me. I waited until I was 18 and got my first one, and would get one here and there over the next few years.

By the time I was in my mid twenties I knew it was something I wanted to be part of. I started focusing my drawing on the designs of Sailor Jerry. At that point I didn’t know why he was great, but I knew I liked it. Through my apprenticeship I learned more about designing tattoos, and all that goes along with it. Although even now I feel as though I’ve barely scratched the surface. I feel fortunate to be doing what I love, and for anyone who’s taken the time to share their insight with me.
