New Ownership of Anthem Tattoo Parlor

Gainesville, FL - September 2011 - Anthem Tattoo Parlor is changing hands. Dave Kotinsley, also known by the moniker "Sleepy Dave," has transferred ownership of his shop to Mike and Samantha Salay. Kotinsley plans to continue tattooing at Anthem, but made the decision to sell the business in order to focus more of his time on his personal art and family.

"I've been the financial owner of Anthem since it opened in 2006 on top of having three to six weeks of booked tattoo appointments the entire time," said Kotinsley. "It's been incredibly rewarding, but I'm ready to scale back my involvement and let some new energy take us to that next level. Mike Salay's a top notch tattooer with a great sense for what our clients deserve. There's no one more qualified than the Salays for this job."

Mike Salay has been tattooing for seven years and has been tattooing at Anthem since 2009. He is committed to his tattooing and is excited to take on his new role in the shop. "It's a natural progression," said Salay. "We have been rooted in Gainesville for quite a long time. Samantha and I now have a small family and are ready to take the next step. We're ready to become part of our town's small business community."

According to the Salays, Anthem will retain its core values and continue to provide exceptional tattoos in a safe and welcoming environment. The Salays are also looking forward to making a few changes that will add to the success of the already thriving business. "We're hoping to do some remodeling and possibly expand our hours," said Samantha Salay. "We're in the planning phases of a ‘Rebirth of Anthem' party that will kick off a fresh start for the shop."

Along with Mike Salay and Dave Kotinsley, Tim Strating and Anthem newcomer Chad Sanchez complete the Anthem Tattoo team. Strating, local tattoo artist and all around swell guy, as the Salays describe him, just finished up his apprenticeship under Kotinsley this past year. Sanchez is the newest member of the team, having just arrived at Anthem last month after a lengthy guest spot at the shop. Chad comes to Gainesville by way of Iowa and has been tattooing for the past seven years.
